Senior Class News

• Seniors who have no exams to take may turn in starting on May 1st. Otherwise, devices should be returned as exams are completed.

  Please note: Seniors will not be able to pick up their graduation packets at senior breakfast without having returned their Chromebook and charger. Seniors who have not returned their Chromebook and charger prior to graduation will have their diploma held until the computer and charger has been turned in.

  Fines will be imposed for any unreturned devices or chargers.

• Senior Exit Meetings (April 20th - 21st) - Counselors will present important information in all government/economics classes during these two days. We will go over final reminders with seniors before completing exams. If students do not have a government/economics class on campus, the presentation will be shared via Canvas messenger.

• Cap & Gown Distribution (April 22nd) - Before students are dismissed for the senior picnic, they will be instructed to visit the bus lane to pick up their cap/gown that they ordered through 3rd Ascent. 

• Senior Picnic (April 22nd) - It is our tradition to have a Senior Picnic during Senior Week to celebrate our wonderful class of students. Join us on Coal Mountain Field from 10:00AM-Noon for food, music, and fun!! Students are encouraged to wear something that represents their future plans. We also tell students to bring either blankets or chairs to sit on while enjoying the day.

• Senior Citizen Bingo Bash (April 24th) - Students can sign up for Senior Citizen Bingo during Raider Time on Friday, April 24th on Student Support Time. Bingo Cards and dabbers will be provided. We will play several rounds of fast-paced bingo for PRIZES! Prizes include dorm/apartment essentials - perfect for your next chapter!

• Senior Sunset (May 7th) - Join us at the conclusion of senior finals to celebrate one last night in Raider Valley starting at 7PM. We will have music, drinks, ice cream, and pass out senior letter folders. All senior students will have a senior letter packet for pick-up. Please feel free to bring comfy seating and/or activities for you and your friends to enjoy on the field or in the stands! If students are unable to pick up their senior letter packet, they will be available for pick-up at Senior Breakfast.

• Senior Breakfast (May 12th) - Senior Breakfast will be served at 8:30AM on Tuesday, May 12th in the NFHS Cafeteria. We will serve Chick-fil-A biscuits and drinks. This meeting is MANDATORY for all seniors as we will be discussing all things regarding graduation expectations. In addition, students will pick up their graduation packets, which contains: 14 graduation tickets (unless additional are requested), two commemorative programs, a student parking pass, regalia, and important information! All outstanding fees (library, cafeteria, etc.) must be paid prior to receiving your senior packet. The meeting will last no later than 10AM. • Baccalaureate (May 14th) - This traditional event is held at First Baptist Cumming. It is a Christian non-denominational graduation celebration. It is not required to attend, but the invitations extend to each graduating senior. The event will start at 6:30. Students are asked to wear their graduation gown and regalia. No hat is required. Drinks and light refreshments will be served. Invitations should have been sent out via US Mail.

• Graduation (May 17th) - Our last event is graduation on Sunday May 17th at 8:30AM. It will be held at Gas South Arena in Duluth. Students will be expected to arrive by 6:30AM. If families would like to drive together, parents will have to wait until 7:30AM to enter the arena through the main entrance. Graduation lasts approximately 2 hours. Graduation will be live streamed if family/friends are unable to attend. Students will only be permitted to bring their keys into the arena. They cannot bring phones or other items to distract from this joyous celebration. Students will be dismissed out the front of the arena to meet their family members. There will be flags flying with letters, so students can meet their family under the letter that corresponds to their last name. All graduates will receive 14 tickets. Senior Dues include cap & gown fees, facility rentals and fees, Senior class events.

Graduates will receive tickets to the graduation ceremony at the Senior Breakfast on May 12th. All graduates will receive 14 tickets. If you need more, please request here. The arena has open seating, so feel free to sit anywhere you would like.

All guests must have a parking pass.  Graduates will receive a Student Parking Pass on May 12th.  Guests can purchase parking passes online here. No cash will be accepted at the arena. The cost is $15.

Graduation will also be live-streamed for families and friends that cannot travel to the ceremony. The live stream can be found on the arena's YouTube page here.

Graduation will last approximately 2 hours.
